Design Features:
- Free turbine: allows you to have a rotor speed independent of the turbocharger, makes starting easier and eliminates the need for a clutch.
- Regulation: The engine is equipped with an automatic control system that controls its operation at all stages - from start to shutdown.
- Reliability: the use of two such engines on the Mi-8 significantly increased flight safety.
- Climate adaptation: the TV2-117A version was modified for operation in difficult climatic conditions (for example, for the Mi-8FT).
The engine was mass-produced from 1965 to 1997; in total, about 23,000 units were produced with a total operating time of more than 100 million hours.
