Brief description of the BMD-1 landing vehicle

Appointment: lThe United States of the Airborne Forces of the Airborne Forces, the Fire Support of Infantry, and the hostilities in the conditions of landing and overcoming water barriers is designed to transport the personnel of the landing vehicle.

Main characteristics:

• Crew: 3 people + paratroopers (up to 5 people)
• Weight: about 7 tons
• Armament: Automatic gun of 73 mm caliber (thunder), PCT machine guns and KPVT
• Engine: diesel UTD-20 with a capacity of 240 hp
• Maximum speed: up to 60 km/h on the highway
• Stroke: about 500 km
• Amphibious: floating technique, equipped with water tracks

Design features:

• Floating body with high maneuverability on the water
• The possibility of parachute landing
• High reservation against small arms and fragments of small -caliber shells
• Effective weapons to defeat easily armored targets and enemy manpower
