The An-2 aircraft was developed by the Antonov design bureau in the late 1940s and entered service in 1948. Initially conceived as an agricultural aircraft, the An-2 quickly became multi-role and was produced in 16 different civil and military versions. An-2P passenger aircraft flew on local air lines of the USSR for many years.
