Engine TA-6A for the auxiliary power unit (APU) is a single-shaft gas turbine engine.
The engine is installed in a special unsealed compartment on board the aircraft and is intended for:
- starting aircraft main engines using air launchers at airfields located at altitudes up to 3000 m above sea level;
- air conditioning of aircraft cabins and compartments at airfields located at altitudes up to 3000 m, as well as during takeoff and landing;
- powering the aircraft's on-board network with alternating current electricity at airfields located at altitudes up to 3000 m above sea level;
- supplying alternating current to the aircraft on-board network and compressed air to air-drive units when using the engine in an emergency situation in flight at altitudes up to 3000 m.
