Armored car T-34-76 (artillery armored platform PL-43)
During the Great Patriotic War, the Red Army was armed with armored trains, which included special armored platforms equipped with turrets from T-34-76 tanks.
The most widespread and advanced type of Soviet armored train was the BP-43. Its PL-43 artillery armored platforms were armed with turrets from T-34-76 tanks with a 76-mm F-34 cannon and a coaxial DT machine gun. This design allowed the armored train to conduct all-round fire and significantly enhanced its combat capabilities. In addition to the tank turret, two more DT machine guns were installed in embrasures on the armored platform, and the ammunition load of one platform was 168 shells and 4,500 rounds.
Thus, if we are talking about an armored railway car with a T-34-76 turret, then we mean the armored platform of an armored train of the BP-43 type. It was these platforms that were used as part of armored trains to support ground forces and combat enemy armored vehicles.
