Tesco ECI 900 HP (500 tons) is used as part of drilling rigs for drilling oil and gas wells. Advantages of using top drive systems on drilling rigs: saving time in the process of extending pipes during drilling, reducing the likelihood of stuck drilling equipment, expanding (working out) the wellbore when lowering and lifting a tool, increasing the accuracy of well placement during directional drilling, increasing safety for the drilling crew, reducing the likelihood of fluid ejection from the well through the drill string, facilitating the running of casing in areas of complications due to rotation and flushing.
