BTR-80 is an armored personnel carrier produced in the USSR in the early 1980s, in order to eliminate the identified deficiencies of the BTR-70, discovered during the Afghan war and intended for use in motorized rifle troops. Serial production launched in 1984, and after that there were many modernizations.
