AUTO UNION COMPUTER COMPUTE AUTO / DKW IFA / Cars used two-stroke engines. In 1931, the company became a pioneer to use the front wheel drive. The most famous cars before the Second World War had brands from F1 to F8, the front wheel drive and a transversely mounted two-cylinder engine. These models also differed in the presence of dynastarter. The car was glued to the wholesale body. This feature served as a reason for another decoding of DKV in the USSR - wood-glue-water. It is the absence of a sheet metal in the body design that provided the DCV large-scale production in connection with the deficit of this material in post-war Germany.
Starting from 1928, DKW and "Zschopauer Motorwerke J. S. Rasmussen AG" are becoming the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world (65,000 motorcycles). In the same year, Rasmussen acquired the Audi plant to Zwickau. The main investor was the Saxon State Bank with a 25% participation of DKW. But DKW during the Great Depression was in hard financial conditions, and Dr. Richard Brun (Richard Bruhn) from the State Bank and Rasmussen developed the DKW and AUDI plan to AUTO Union AG, which also included a manufacturer of luxury Horch cars and manufacturer of cars of the middle class Wanderer .
Despite the new brand, DKW and other trademarks have retained their branded names. The logos were supplemented with four auto union rings. Only cars for the races of the Grand Prix were produced under the AUTO Union brand (Auto-Union-Rennwagen).
