Car "Prombron"
In our workshop, work is underway to restore the first Soviet car, which can take its rightful place in the exhibition of any automobile museum.
In the early 1920s, a significant event occurred - a domestically assembled car appeared in the Special Purpose garage in the Kremlin. At the beginning of 1923, one was readycar "Prombron" (manufactured at the Russian-Baltic Carriage Works, evacuated near Moscow, in Fili) was transferred to V.I. Lenin.
One of the first attempts to organize mass production of passenger cars in post-revolutionary Russia belonged to the 1st BTAZ (Armored Plant, former Russo-Balt in Fili). By the end of August 1921, 196 machine tools were already operating on its premises, a forge, a tool shop, and the plant began repairing trucks and armored vehicles.
At the same time, in Fili, in August 1921, they began to produce parts and components for their own production of passenger cars (in total, three prototypes and 38 sets of parts were produced for subsequent small-scale production). Assembled on October 8, 1922, the Prombron car was a modernized Russo-Balt S 24-40 series XVIII: a camshaft made integral with the cams, a new windshield frame, aluminum protective rims on the wheels, the presence of a generator for electric lighting, A tubular front bumper is installed. All car parts, with the exception of rolling bearings, carburetor and magneto, are made in our country.
