History
BTR-40 is a Soviet light armored personnel carrier of the 1950s, due to the specifics of its purpose according to the western classification, it is also sometimes referred to as an armored vehicle. It was developed at the GAZ Design Bureau in 1947-1949 on the basis of the GAZ-63 all-wheel drive truck and became the first serial armored personnel carrier of the USSR.
